The CRRS is organizing an interdisciplinary forum designed to allow a greater number of graduate students to participate more meaningfully in the life of the Centre. Those who attended the “Celebration of Early Modern Studies,” which was hosted by the Centre in March 2011, had the opportunity to discuss the shape such a group might take. Moving forward from this discussion, we hope to establish a functional group in the academic year 2011-12.
We are excited by the opportunity to create a new interdisciplinary forum where graduate students can interact with postdoctoral fellows and faculty, and we hope that in these early planning stages you will help us to make this forum as rewarding as possible.
Please note: the planning meeting immediately precedes an early modern lecture by Bill Sherman (University of York, UK) entitled “The Reader’s Eye: Between Annotation and Illustration” sponsored by the Toronto Centre for the Book, the CRRS, and Book and Media Studies (Father Madden Hall, in Carr Hall, 100 St. Joseph St.). Professor Sherman’s lecture begins at 4:15 pm; why not attend both and make it a Renaissance afternoon?
We look forward to seeing you on the 23rd!
Sincerely,
Timothy Harrison, doctoral student, English & Book History
