Illustrated talk by Professor E. Natalie Rothman, Department of History, University of Toronto at Scarborough. This lecture explores the formation and transformation of dragoman dynasties in the service of the Venetian embassy in Istanbul, and the ways in which these dynasties helped to shape political, religious, and linguistic boundaries in the early modern Mediterranean.
