September Open House

September 14, 2012 at 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

You are invited to discover a hidden gem on campus where 500-year-old books and manuscripts are just a few of things you might come across.

The Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies (on the 3rd floor of Pratt Library at Victoria College; www.1650580097-48936e7717784b30.wp-transfer.sgvps.net) is the on-campus base for everyone interested in the early modern period (approximately 1350 to 1700). Students and faculty are welcome to use this space to consult the Centre’s collection of resources and rare books. Our books never leave the shelves, so if you see them on the online catalogue you’ll be able to find them here – no more hunting in the stacks!

Scholars with an academic interest in Renaissance Studies are also invited to attend special events at the Centre, ranging from informal talks to large academic conferences. The Centre offers a unique environment to pursue academic interests in the early modern period in a community of other undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and visiting scholars. This special place might just become your intellectual home at the University of Toronto.

But don’t just take our word for it. Come check it out! On Friday 13 September, the Centre will be hosting an open house. Feel free to drop by between 1 and 5 to learn about the Centre, its services, and the diverse group of scholars based here. We’ll have a bunch of rare and precious books on hand for visitors to see and touch – it’s not to be missed!
