A princess in distress, a prince in disguise, a jealous lover, a clown named Mouse, a cannibal wild man, and a BEAR!  What more could you want in a fairy tale romance?
A band of travelling players bring their cart full of props and costumes to the Studio Theatre, where Comedy and Envy make a wager that the latter will be able to convert a pleasant pastoral comedy into tragedy. Who will win?

The anonymous romantic comedy Mucedorus was by all accounts the most popular play of the first half of the seventeenth century. First performed around 1590, the play has long been a part of the Shakespeare apocrypha, and recent evidence suggests that Shakespeare did indeed write part of the play. Mucedorus was performed before both Elizabeth I and James I, but we know of no performance in modern times.
This joint production of Poculi Ludique Societas and the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies features a talented student cast and production team: Director: Justin Blum; Movement Coach: Gabrielle Houle; Production Designer: Brad Fraser; Props: Gil Garratt; Costumes: Linda Phillips; Cast:  Nazli Akhtari, Neil Babcock, Adam Chan, Shak Haq, Mike Kirby, Ashley Olah, Polly Phokeev.
In association with the production there will be a symposium: “Mucedorus in Context and Performance”  on Saturday November 23 2013.  Information at
